Who We Are?

Greencities is a collaborative project funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, bringing together partners from Turkey, Georgia, Greece, and Romania to create greener, healthier, and more sustainable urban environments.
Supported by the European Union, this cross-border project addresses shared environmental and socio-economic challenges caused by rapid urbanization in the Black Sea Region. Greencities focuses on transforming underutilized urban areas into vibrant green spaces, fostering biodiversity, and promoting climate resilience. Through innovative approaches and community-driven efforts, the project serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development practices.

 Our Mission

Greencities aims to transform underutilized urban areas into vibrant green spaces that promote biodiversity, reduce pollution, and improve the quality of life for city residents. By leveraging transnational cooperation, the project fosters innovation, community engagement, and sustainable development practices.

Why Greencities?

Rapid urbanization and industrialization in the Black Sea Region have led to significant environmental and social challenges:  Increased air, water, and soil pollution. Loss of biodiversity and natural habitats. Limited access to green spaces for urban residents. Greencities tackles these challenges by implementing innovative green infrastructure solutions, engaging local communities, and raising awareness about climate change adaptation and environmental protection.

Our Goals

Environmental Preservation:

Enhance nature and biodiversity in urban areas while reducing all forms of pollution.

2

Green Space Development:

Transform unused plots into sustainable, functional green areas.

3

Community Engagement:

Involve local stakeholders, including residents, NGOs, and public authorities, in decision-making processes.

4

Sustainable Urban Planning:

Provide long-term solutions for greener and more climate-resilient cities.
